At the heart of E-Surf Hawai‘i are two ocean lovers, entrepreneurs, and lifelong friends—Christian Courtemanche and Tyler Armijo—who share a deep connection to the water and a vision for the future of ocean experiences.
TYLER ARMIJO
Born and raised on Maui, Tyler began his journey in the surf industry at age 14 working for Island Style Adventures. After years of hands-on experience and hard lessons, he built one of Maui’s top-rated ocean activity companies, eventually selling it in 2024 after navigating through wildfires, tourism challenges, and personal growth. With a strong background in business, branding, and leadership—and a commitment to doing things the right way—Tyler co-founded E-Surf Hawai‘i to bring the future of wave riding to the islands and beyond.
CHRISTIAN COURTEMANCHE
Christian got his start in the beach activities world at just 16 years old, working for Island Style Adventures. Over the years, he honed his skills both in and out of the water, gaining valuable experience at companies like Aqualani before returning to ISA in 2020. In 2023, he became a co-owner of the company alongside Tyler. After selling ISA together in 2024, Christian stepped into a new chapter, co-founding E-Surf Hawai‘i. Beyond his ocean roots, Christian is also an avid Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, known for his discipline, grit, and drive—qualities that shape the energy of the brand today.
